This shared seaside facility allows users to enjoy a base at the beach regardless of the location of their houses within the development. Three Miesian framed boxes set on a large floating deck provide a kitchen, bathroom, eating area, sunbathing deck and BBQ facility adjacent to the beach. The timber and steel material palette has been lent a variety of treatments to add texture, colour and rhythm to the simplicity of the geometry of row boxes. The simple, restrained execution allows the user to focus on the beauty of the surrounding environment

A layered chrysalis transforms the expected tree house into an organic piece of architecture. The laminate beams and battens create a delicacy to extend the chrysalis concept to built form. Even somewhat chunky details manage to retain the ambience of a childhood dream realised as an adult fantasy.
