Haresnape House

NZIA Practice: Bill Haresnape

Category: Enduring Architecture

Designed and constructed between 1955 and 1958, this jewel lost in the Titirangi bush displays a sophisticated internationalism. It draws heavily on the work of Neutra and other Californians designing in the 1950’s, rarely seen in New Zealand in contemporary domestic architecture. The spaces are cleverly articulated in terms of materiality, space and structure. The arrangement of functions makes the most of the varying terrain of the site.
